The tour will start at the National Museum of Korea where you’ll discover the history and art of the country. It was built in 1945 and continuously develops various education programs and exhibitions. The museum is dedicated to research activities and studies in history, archaeology and art. The National Museum of Korea is divided into 3 floors. The right side of the museum epitomizes the future while the left side represents the past. The ground floor has parks, pools and waterfalls, gardens with indigenous plants as well as lanterns, steles, stupas and pagodas. The Great Bell of Bosingak, an example of Korean bells during the Joseon period, can be found here. The first floor of the museum contains the Prehistory and Ancient History Gallery that contains about 4,500 relics from the Paleolithic and Unified Silla eras. The second floor is the Donation Gallery as well as the Calligraphy and Painting Gallery that houses 890 art pieces which showcase the religious and traditional arts of Korea.
The third floor is home to the Sculpture and Crafts Gallery that contains 630 pieces of art that represent Korean Buddhist craftwork and sculpture. The Asian Arts Gallery can also be found on the third floor. It contains 970 pieces of art that explore the differences and similarities of Asian art as well as the convergence of Western and Asian art through the Silk Road. There are 5 rooms in the third floor – the Sinan Undersea Relics Room, Japanese Art Room, Central Asian Art Room, Indian and Southeast Asian Art Room and Chinese Art Room.
After visiting the National Museum of Korea, you will head to Gangnam or the Southern part of Hangang River and visit the Gangnam subway station street. The tour will also take you to Sinsa-dong, Garosu-gil, the emerging shopping and social place where the trendy young generation usually gather. One of the major shopping areas here is Apgujeong Rodeo Street. Other major shopping areas include Garosu-gil in Sinsa-dong and Cheongdam-dong Fashion Street. These areas are connected by the main street Apgujeong-ro.
You will also visit Cheongdam-dong, one of the places where trendy and fashionable people usually gather. It symbolizes the affluent lifestyle of Koreans and is also popular as a glamorous shopping area. The main shopping street in Cheongdam-dong is called Cheongdam Fashion Street. The area is also home to K-pop management companies Cube Entertainment, J. Tune Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, S.M. Entertainment and FNC Entertainment.
